Building Class Solidarity (recording included)
Earlier this week, we facilitated Building Class Solidarity, our political education workshop on contending with Right-wing forces. We shared trends we have observed amongst GAR membership about who are the emerging Right-wing forces in our Asian communities. THe most effective strategy to contend with Right-wing forces is to organize working-class interests across every sector; our communities are getting cross-pressured by multiple RW forces. Across the nation, GAR members are doing this crucial work of grassroots organizing in pan-Asian, working-class, immigrant and refugee communities.
Unfortunately, working-class-led organization have a MUCH harder time accessing funding, compared to larger organizations. It’s critical to grow the Left and progressive resources to continue making strides in fighting fascist ideology. Will you support our work? As donors and supporters, you have a vital role to play to help us build the path towards working-class power!
If you missed the event or would like to review the materials, here is the recording of our workshop and the slidedeck that we used.
We want to give a huge shoutout to our donor host committee for the work and care they have put into helping us organize this event. Thank you to Chris Wescott (Solidaire), Daniel Lau, Eileen Farbman (Kolibri), Hana Sun, Kamardip Singh, Katie Wang (Resource Generation), and Maya Iwata for helping us to outreach to ensure that we can build class solidarity!
Katie shared with us, “I joined with Grassroots Asians Rising and others invested in building class solidarity in order to sustain gains made in working-class, pan-Asian organizing. I’ve personally seen how Asian Right-wing forces’ connections to the broader Right has advanced harmful anti-immigrant and transphobic agendas. It is the responsibility of those of us with resources to back working-class victories so that we all win. Will you become a sustainer with GAR so that we can ensure that our voices are heard and our collective impact is felt? Let’s continue this vital work together!”
