Because no one workplace, family, or neighborhood can organize alone.

For too many Asian organizers in our member organizations, a space like GAR doesn’t exist anywhere else.

“GAR provides a unique community where Asian organizations who are serious about organizing and power-building can come to learn and grow together. I am usually in worker spaces where the Asian groups are few, so being with others who have a lot of similar characteristics and challenges is so helpful because we also see examples of what's working,” shares Aqui, Executive Director of Pilipino Workers Center.

Just as a plant grows tall because its roots run deep, GAR’s strength comes from our roots in pan-Asian, working-class communities. Those roots are what lets our 38 member organizations organize, grow, and rise in people power together.

This year, our Sustainer Campaign theme is Rooted and Rising, because one family, one workplace, one neighborhood organizing alone can only go so far. By connecting roots across communities, we can build real power to win lasting changes.

When organizers facing similar conditions and challenges come together, they see, firsthand, what’s actually working elsewhere, and bring those lessons home to their own communities.

GAR connects 38 pan-Asian organizations across 14 states. These groups are doing hard, unglamorous work organizing poor and working-class Asian communities, often in isolation from one another. GAR closes that gap and makes sure that no organization has to build power alone.

Your monthly gift is what keeps GAR rooted and rising. Strong roots need fertile ground. Strong movements need steady support. When you become a monthly sustainer with GAR, you help make sure that organizers like Aqui have the space they need to learn, grow, and organize their communities to win rent freezes, progressive policy changes, pardons that protect people from ICE, and local budgets that put people over profits.
